I Refuse To Be Dehumanized
On PPE, mental health, and the dehumanization of social media.
In the world of occupational safety, a “near miss” is an incident that does not result in an injury, but comes very close. A large container topples over but doesn’t fall on anyone or make a spill. Someone almost gets cuts by a sharp object, but is stopped at the last moment. While they don’t result in any physical harm, near misses should still be reported to whoever is in charge of safety at your organization because they represent the potential for future harm (the object that fell should have been secured, the object that almost poked you should have been in a sharps container, etc.)
Is it possible to have a mental health near miss? If so, that’s what I had this past week.
