Letter from a Combat Medic in the Culture War
On the Speaker vote, Republican "division", and the Overton window.
I write this newsletter on the two-year anniversary of the January 6th capitol insurrection, a failed coup attempt by Republicans that left many injured and at least one person killed. Since then, Republicans have successfully overturned Roe V. Wade, instigated numerous attacks on transgender people, started a trans refugee crisis, and captivated the public consciousness by associating all progressive language with something sinister, ultimately shifting the Overton window into fascist ideology. Among many, many, MANY other terrible things in the works.
Also, as of today, I am being told by a bunch of cis white men not to worry about it; that Republican ideology is on the way out, and that the party is “fractured” and “divided”.
…Excuse me??
